The Nairobi Print Project (NPP) is a platform dedicated to open access scholarship and conversation on art and curatorial practice in Africa and the Black diaspora. Through critical engagement with historical and emerging themes in contemporary art, the project includes, a journal of commissioned texts, an engaging podcast and an open access library.
I founded this project with inspiration and guidance from curator and my mentor, Bisi Silva. Studying in the USA further impressed on me the need and urgency to address matters of scholarship within art practice back in my home country Kenya. I hope that NPP adds to the expasion of the collaborative and discursive fields between practices in Africa and the Black diaspora
NPP JOURNAL
The NPP Journal is a collection of text on artistic research, criticism and essays commissioned and published by the project on a rolling basis.
Founded on Afro-critical thought the journal is an intellectually rich and transformative resource that centers the perspectives, theories, and analyses developed by African and Black scholars, artists and thinkers. It is a useful tool for artists, researchers, students, activists, and anyone interested in exploring the historical and contemporary dynamics that have shaped African and Black experiences worldwide
NAI-POD
The Nairobi Print podcast (Nai-Pod) invites guests to analyze the cultural, historical, and political circumstances that have and continue to shape contemporary art practice for Africa and the black diaspora globally.
