This body of work is the culmination of a ten-month residency during which I explored the migrant object—artifacts found in archives—and the human body at the intersection of personal and collective historical memory. This exploration has led to new questions regarding representation, history, and the act of photographic capture. Notably, this period also marked my first expansion into short films as part of my artistic practice.
"Black is the Color of the Cosmos" served as the culminating exhibition for the 2022-23 cohort of the Arts + Public Life (APL) and the Center for the Study of Race, Politics, and Culture (CSRPC)
